Current Work
In my current work, I am exploring the potential of the mid-range electric kiln. Using a mid-fire red stoneware and porcelain slip, I am taking many of the decorative techniques that I used in the high-fired soda kiln and, through making, coming up with a new body of work that I can make in my own studio at home.
Continuing with the work I made at the Archie Bray, I work with stitching together animal imagery and pattern swatches onto single pieces of pottery. However, I now am also very interested in investigating the intersections of craft and what was traditionally thought of–and valued as–"women's work." Ceramics and textiles, with their evocation of the domestic, mesh together in a beautiful way and provide me with endless potential for new and interesting work.
